Rebate angle Item D000210

TM WDS continues to expand the capabilities of new WDS 76 systems based on the experience of the window industry. One of our new solutions is rebate angle, item D000210.

Rebate angle is designed to connect the vertical and horizontal parts of the sash reinforcement into a single a frame, which significantly affects the “Mechanical strength” characteristic.

Mechanical strength, as a characteristic of EN 14351-1.

The ability of a door or window sash to resist additional loads during operation without visible residual deformations leading to loss of functionality is called mechanical strength.
In everyday use, this characteristic is closely related to the requirements for the safety of use and durability of the product.

There are two types of additional loads:

– those that act perpendicular to the plane of the sash (torsion);
– those acting in the plane of the sash (vertical).

Loads acting perpendicular to the sash plane (torsion)

Examples of such loads are:

• a person leaning on a sash

• attempts to open the sash when the hardware is blocked

• blocking the sash with a tensioner

The results of the tests according to EN 948, which were conducted in the «MIROPLAST» laboratory, showed that the door sash with rebate angle deforms under the maximum weight by 9% less than the same sash with weldable corner joints, and has minimal residual deformation, that means, it is almost completely reversible to the initial position. In both cases, closed reinforcement was used.

Loads acting in the sash plane (vertical):
• cases during washing or maintenance of doors or windows (in addition to the sash’s own weight of 100 kg, an additional load of 80-100 kg is possible);

• the ability of the sash to withstand the increased weight of a multi-chamber double-glazed unit with shatterproof or sound-insulating glass.

To determine the difference in weld strength, we tested three samples: with a rebate angle, with a weldable corner joint, and without reinforcement. The test was conducted according to the EN 514 method.

The sample with a rebate angle performed 20% better than the sample with weldable corner joints. At the same time, the sample without reinforcement showed a result 5% better than the sample with weldable corner joints. During the sample examination, it turned out that the weldable corner joints were not welded over the entire area.

The use of rebate angle in the sash makes it possible to increase the resistance of the sash to the weight of the double-glazed unit and to use shatterproof and sound-insulating glass with the usual sash size limitations, which significantly expands the range of double-glazed units in the WDS 76 systems.
